So Long, Kodachrome
Jim Granato / 2010 / United States / 7 mins
So Long, Kodachrome is an ode to super 8, and the most beloved film stock every made. While paying huge respects to the format, this original sound super 8 short also pays homage to an American 70′s landmark film.

Putain Lapin / Bitch Rabbit
Guérin van de Vorst / 2010 / Belgium / 10 mins
Putain Lapin is about the meeting between a whore and a bear, that she thinks is a rabbit. It’s also about a desolate place where people get lost and leave by charters.

Enterprisse
Mauricio Quiroga Kiro / 2010 / Bolivia, Argentina 9 mins
The man, the city, the machine. Once in the game, follow the instructions.

Collide-o-scope
Naren Wilks / 2010 / United Kingdom / 3 mins
Using four super-8 cameras a man in a white room replicates himself. He and his clones have until the cartridges in the cameras run out before they disappear.

Short film showing / Information meeting with the Cambridge S8 group

CB2 cafe (Basement) Norfolk Street in Cambridge – Friday 21st of October 2011 –  8pm.

You like films, you should join the Cambridge Super 8 group.
We are organising film events, workshops,  film projects.

All over the world, the awkward squad are keeping traditional zero-budget film making alive with nothing more than neglected cameras and little cartridges of Super 8 film. Tiny frames of glowing colour or grimy mono- chrome; no soundtrack so you make one; suit yourself and make a film as distinctive as a hand-knitted jumper. Challenge yourself with Straight Eight, fill an art gallery wih motion and noise, help put on showings and festivals.

We have equipment. We need friends and collaborators. Come and meet us.

International home movie day – 16th of October 2010

Screen Your Home Movies in Public

Your old home movies are probably a lot more interesting than you remember!

The BBC’s recent TV series The Great British Home Movie Roadshow blew the dust off a treasure trove of amateur film reels found in the nation’s lofts, garages and garden sheds. Hot on its heels, the Cambridge Super 8 Group in association with Cambridge Folk Museum are hosting a Home Movie Day to celebrate the region’s amateur films and filmmaking.

The event is free and open to the public and experts will be on hand to evaluate films brought in by the public and offer advice on how to convert old cine reels to digital format. You will also have a chance to show your own films to a public audience. The Cambridge Super 8 Group will also screen films from their own archive, showing scenes of Cambridge life from the 1950s to the 1970s.

If you have home movies on film (Super 8 or 8mm) that you’ve never seen, or haven’t watched since you inherited them from your grandparents then… Don’t let your old films decay – bring them to Home Movie Day!

The Cambridge Super 8 Group would also like to receive any unwanted films for archiving and recycling.

When: 1:30pm to 5pm – Saturday 16th October 2010

Where: Cambridge Folk Museum, 2/3 Castle Street, Cambridge CB3 0AQ

Admission: FREE

“Saving our film heritage should not be limited only to commercially produced films. Home movies do not just capture the important private moments of our family’s lives, but they are historical and cultural documents as well… Home Movie Day is a celebration of these films and the people who shot them. I urge anyone with an interest in learning more about how to care for and preserve their own personal memories to join in the festivities being offered in their community…”

Martin Scorsese
